Mission & Vision Statement

Mission

BAT wants to represent all anaesthesiology trainees in Belgium. We strive for consistent, accessible, and high-quality residency training across all training centres, while building a strong community where trainees can connect, support, and learn from each other. We advocate for trainees by ensuring their voices are heard in the organisations shaping our profession at both the national and international levels. By investing in the education and development of anaesthesiology trainees, we ultimately invest in better patient care. 

Vision

BAT aspires to build a connected and inspiring community of anaesthesia trainees who actively contribute to the advancement of anaesthesiology, intensive care, pain medicine, and perioperative care. We envision a future where every trainee has access to the resources, support, and opportunities needed to develop into a skilled, innovative, and patient-centred specialist.

Strategic goals

Training & education
We work to strengthen collaboration between training centres and universities, ensuring high-quality and equitable residency training across Belgium. This means shared standards, equal opportunities, and continuous support for residents throughout their training, with patient safety and quality of care at the heart of everything we do. 

Community
BAT aims to be an accessible and approachable point of contact for residents. We welcome and guide new trainees, connect residents across universities and hospitals, and create meaningful opportunities to learn, exchange, and build a strong community through engaging scientific and social events. 

Policy & representation
BAT acts as a bridge between residents and the institutions and organisations shaping anaesthesiology in Belgium. We represent the interests of trainees and collaborate with our partners to help advance both residency training and the practice of anaesthesiology. 

Industry partnerships
We build connections between trainees and industry, creating opportunities for exchange, collaboration, and professional development.
