Following last year’s success we are once again hosting a series of afterwork drinks across the country.

It is the perfect opportunity for Belgian Anesthesiology trainees to meet, connect and unwind in a casual setting - regardless of which university you’re from. You’re more than welcome to attend as many events as you like!  🥂🍾 

Starting as a first year in October? This is the ideal moment to get to know your future colleagues ahead of time. And we would love to welcome you too!

Euroanesthesia 2025 - Lisbon (Portugal)

Two BAT board members, Matthew and Tom, had the chance to attend Euroanaesthesia 2025 (EA25) in sunny Lisbon, Portugal—and what an experience it was! We joined loads of interesting lectures, learned a lot, and were proud to see the research of our vice-president Marie-Camille, and our Webmaster Matthew, being shown at the congress. 💪

On Sunday evening, we took part in the ESAIC Trainee Networking Event, where we met lots of like-minded trainees from all over the world. It was great to connect, share experiences, and spark ideas for future collaborations. 🍹 On Tuesday, our ESAIC representative Matthew joined the European Trainee Ambassador meeting. As Ambassadors, they act as the link between ESAIC and our country’s trainees—sharing updates, gathering feedback, and working together to tackle any challenges. It was a super inspiring session, full of idea-sharing and fresh energy that we’re excited to bring back to the BAT. Lots of exciting plans ahead! And of course, between sessions, we made the most of Lisbon’s amazing weather—hello, 33°C and sunshine! 😎☀🌡

Ten Miles 2025 - Antwerp (Belgium)

For the second year in a row, a group of enthusiastic anesthesia trainees laced up their running shoes to take on the Antwerp Ten Miles—one of Belgium’s biggest and most iconic running events! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️💨 The race winds through the city of Antwerp, drawing thousands of runners and supporters each year. It was a great day full of team spirit, sunshine, and pushing our limits—as we do both in and out of the hospital. 

It was a joy to balance the intellectual stimulation of Saturday's congress with a dash of physical activity on Sunday.

Looking forward to many more enriching experiences and collaborations ahead! 💫 

BAT Congress 2025 - Brussels (Belgium)

Last Saturday was the second edition of our BAT national congress. This year's focus was on the future developments and challenges within the field of anesthesia. A heartfelt thank you to all the speakers, the sponsors, the people who were willing to give workshops, and of course the participants. You made it a resounding success! Your energy, insights, and dedication made this event unforgettable.  🙏

We are proud to have shared this experience with such an inspiring community.

BARA / RA-UK Remembrance Meeting - Bruges (Belgium)

 Shoutout to the unforgettable joint remembrance meeting by @BelgianBARA and @RegionalAnaesUK in Bruges! 🌟

What a fantastic event it was, filled with engaging workshops and insightful lectures from top colleagues in the field. 🌍✨ We explored the latest techniques in regional anesthesia with practical tips, got insights in the use of liposomals, talked about the rising role of AI, discussed real-world conflict dynamics in the OR and the importance (and limitations) of evidence and journal reliance in guiding best practices. 📚🤖 

BARA PoCUS Refresher Course - Kortrijk (Belgium)

A heartfelt thank you to the Belgian Association for Regional Anesthesia (BARA) for organizing such an insightful and well-structured PoCUS refresher course. The lectures were not only engaging but also highly relevant to our daily practice. Special mention to the hands-on workshops - exceptionally accessible and valuable for residents in training. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
